CALENDAR OF EVENTS:
Every Monday evening (except on holidays and, of course, during Hawaii Ski Week), at 4:30 PM, a group of ski club members and their friends play tennis at Keehi Lagoon Courts, off Lagoon Drive. Stay in shape and enjoy a "careful social hour" afterwards.
May 4 (Thursday), 5 PM General Membership Meeting at Mangiamo, Navy Marine Golf Course.
June 1 (Thursday) 5 PM General Membership Meeting at Mangiamo, Navy Marine Golf Course. Please note that they will be seating us in a different location of the restaurant this one time.
Separate emails informing you of a volunteering opportunity in May and pau hanas for May and/or June may be coming. Also, like last year, we may be scheduling a party, with the food on the Club, at Rainbow Bay Marina, Pearl Harbor, for our July General Membership Meeting. Stay tuned.
PRESIDENTS MESSAGE:
For those of you who did not attend the April 6 General Membership Meeting at Mangiamo, I was re-elected for another one year term as your President and Anita Hodges, Jonathan Carr, Michiro (Mitch) Iwanaga, and Alan Teramura were re-elected for new two year terms on the Board of Directors. At our April 20 monthly board meeting, Anita agreed to continue as Vice President, Jonathan as Treasurer, and Alan to remain in his role as (loud applause please) Trips Committee Chair. We welcomed Board member Nelson Dang as our new Secretary. We have just signed a contract with Ski.com, the agent for most our mainland and Canada ski trips this past decade, for next year's trip to Steamboat Springs, Colorado, January 19 - 27, and further information as well as signup forms will be available in the near future. Further information on the trip can be found below. Also, Alan is looking at, at least, one new destination for our increasingly popular February trips to Hokkaido. With regard to ski destinations for our annual Hawaii Ski Week in January, we seem to have been doing a lot of recycling of late, and many of the presentations of possible locations for the next year's trip, i.e. nominations from the floor, at our Farewell Dinner, have not been fully "fleshed out." The time to start thinking about possible future destinations for the club should not be right at the end of the current year's trip but throughout the year so that, if you want to nominate an area, you can do the research and cover most of the bases in your presentation. Finally, with the major part of the pandemic behind us (we hope), we are planning to return to more regular pau hanas and to offer at least one group volunteering opportunity per quarter. Right now we are looking at a possible project, on a Saturday morning in May, packing food for the Hawaii Foodbank. Prior to the pandemic, groups of volunteers from the Club have packed food for Meals on Wheels, staffed booths at community events such as the long gone "Taste of Honolulu," painted the exterior of the Palolo Chinese Home, and worked on special events for the Waikiki Aquarium. If you know of a volunteering opportunity which might be good for the Club, please contact Mike Tsutsui, mike@hawaiisnowskiclub.com .

We're back to Mangiamo for our April General Membership Meeting which also serves as our annual election for Board of Directors. It is on the second floor of the golf course's club house. See you there.
